RIVERVIEW RESIDENTIAL  DEVELOPMENT

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS

North Water Street Tower spans twenty eight stories high and is the first of three masonry clad high rise buildings to be constructed along the Chicago river.  Concerned with the complexity of the masonry design, Power Contracting and Engineering hired MTI to conduct a thorough review of the masonry wall design and to provide job site observation.  Subsequently, MTI was instrumental in resolving numerous masonry flashing issues.

ONE CINNAMON CREEK CONDOS

PALOS HILLS, ILLINOIS

The brickwork on One Cinnamon Creek was deteriorated beyond restoration.  The only option was to remove and reveneer the exterior brickwork.  Serving as masonry consultant, MTI worked closely with the structural engineer to develop intricate wall details and a unique wall drainage system.  MTI also provide on-site inspections during the construction phase to ensure successful implementation of the repair specifications.

THE NEW YORK BUILDING

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS

At forty nine stories high, the New York is one of the tallest brick buildings in the world.  The architectural firm of Mann Gin Ebel & Frazier chose to clad the building with a masonry cavity wall.  Mr.  Laska, serving as masonry consultant, assisted the architect in the design of the masonry wall and provided technical guidance throughout the construction phase.

BARCLAY CONDOMINIUMS

 LINCOLNWOOD, ILLINOIS

The Barclay Condominiums is a two-tower masonry structure that had experienced leakage and masonry deterioration since the completion of the first tower.  MTI conducted a successful forensic investigation, determining the cause and source of all masonry related problems.  MTI also provided the owner with an economical and practical repair scheme that produced a water-tight masonry wall system.

CHICAGO GOLF CLUB

WHEATON, ILLINOIS

Established in 1892, the Chicago Golf Club is the oldest 18 hole golf course in the United States.  The exterior brickwork on the clubhouse was weathered and in need of repair.  MTI was hired by the owner to develop and implement a restoration program.  MTI's expertise in masonry materials, cleaning and tuckpointing procedures was instrumental in restoring the masonry to its original appearance.

MASONRY CONCEPT HOME

 DOWNERS GROVE, ILLINOIS

 

Featuring a 4 inch thick reinforced brick walls, the Masonry Concept Home was one of the first buildings of its kind ever constructed.  Mr.  Laska, acting as developer and masonry consultant, produced a unique and economical structure that reintroduced structural brick masonry back into the housing market.

STEINMETZ HIGH SCHOOL

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS

The massive brick and limestone walls at Steinmetz High School had been subjected to years of deterioration.  Subsequently, numerous stone panels began to dislodge from the walls.  MTI was engaged by the Public Building Commission to performa comprehensive examination of all the exterior walls and to determined the cause of failure.  MTI also developed a successful repair scheme which evolved the new anchoring and resetting of the existing limestone.

THE GRAUE HOUSE

OAK BROOK, ILLINOIS

Built prior to the civil war, this small but impressive brick house has been placed on the State of Illinois' Historical register.  It appeared that the existing brickwork had deteriorated beyond repair.  Utilizing their expertise in masonry materials and specifications, MTI provided the architectural firm of LZT/F partnership with a repair specification that restored the brickwork to its original form.

PROJECT 9

BINGHAM BUILDING

CLEVELAND, OHIO

Declared an historical landmark by the city of Cleveland, the Bingham building is an early example of a concrete frame structure clad with solid clay masonry walls.  The owner, Burnside Construction, hired MTI to resolve deteriorating shelf angle responsible for extensive masonry damage.  MTI performed a detail facade inspection and developed a practical and economical repair scheme that restored the integrity of the masonry facade.

JOLIET JACKHAMMER BALL PARK

JOLIET, ILLINOIS

The Joliet Jackhammer Ball Park is the third largest professional baseball facility in the State of Illinois.  The general contracting firm of Walsh Construction decided to incorporate its own masonry quality control program.  Subsequently, MTI was engaged to perform a thorough masonry document review and on site observation of masonry work in progress

THE “COLUMBIAN” BUILDING

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS

At 50 stories high, the Columbian building is the tallest brick-clad building in the world.  The contracting firm of Walsh Construction retained Mr. Laska as a consultant to conduct an initial masonry review of the masonry details and specifications and to perform ongoing jobsite inspections to ensure the masonry was constructed in compliance with the project documents and codes.
